We joyfully welcome Rev. Gigo M. Jacob and family to Trinity Mar Thoma Church, Houston, as our new Vicar beginning May 1, 2025. Achen hails from the Maliekal family in Vennikulum and was ordained on June 16, 2009. With a strong academic foundation in physics (BSc and MSc from St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry) and theological training from the Mar Thoma Theological Seminary, Kottayam, Achen has faithfully served in several Mar Thoma parishes including Kumily, Ranny Christos, Ayroor Carmel, Ayroor Sehion, and Nellimala Bethel. His love for reading and traveling reflects his desire to understand and witness the beauty of God’s creation, both in Word and in world.

Achen is joined by his wife, Dr. Leena Cherian Kochamma, from the Chackaleathu family in Venmony. Kochamma is not only an accomplished academic—having served as the Head of the Commerce Department at St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry with a Ph.D. in Commerce—but also a woman of deep compassion. Actively involved in mission fields and ministry among the poor and needy in India, Kochamma exemplifies the spirit of Christian service. Her humility and willingness to help reflect the words of our Lord: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40).

Their sons, Johan Jacob Gigo and Nathan Cherian Gigo, bring joy and youthful energy to our parish. Johan, a 10th grader who enjoys playing the piano, soccer, and watching animated films, finds inspiration in the miracles of Jesus. Nathan, in 3rd grade, is an avid reader and sports enthusiast. His favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and his favorite Bible story is Jesus walking on water—reminding us all to keep our eyes on Christ in every storm.

We praise God for bringing this devoted and Christ-centered family to our church. May their time at Trinity be filled with grace, growth, and deep spiritual fellowship.
